What do you love to do outside of the Office of Equity?

"Outside of work, I enjoy video games, journaling, going to the gym, hiking, and listening to audiobooks. I also enjoy watching TV shows, Anime, K-dramas, and Sci-Fi/Fantasy genres like Star Wars, Interstellar, and Lord of the Rings. I care for myself by prioritizing my self-care and being in community with my loved ones."

Deputy Director

The Deputy Director supports the Director with long-term strategy and leads and facilitates work within our Office to meet our mandate. Additionally, the Deputy Director oversees the daily operational functions of the office and assists in preparation/development of budget, grants, and legislation. Perhaps one of the most important responsibilities, this position supports the Leadership Team through guidance, direction, thought partnership, and strategic decision-making that sets the office culture and drives our mission.

Hola! My name is Amber Ortiz-Diaz, my pronouns are She/Her, Ella. I am a proud daughter of Mexican immigrants who have their unique story for their American dream. I am a proud sister, aunt, wife, and mother. I love spending my time with my family, supporting small businesses, and traveling to different countries.  

I believe that relational partnership is the first step to achieving a more equitable Washington. I envision a Washington where we all show up authentically and unapologetically.
