On November 30th, approximately 2,000 community members and state employees came together in-person and virtually to identify specific performance measures and metrics the state will use to gauge how well we are advancing equity. Hi, my name is Megan Matthews, my pronouns are she/her and I love to hang out with friends and family and play volleyball outside of work. I am here because of the folks who supported me and gave me access along the way.            I am a combination of my parents, family, friends, and colleagues who influenced me along the way. I am in this because of the folks who came before me. I will do my part for the people I love and care about and the people I do not know who struggle because of a system that is not fair, that favors some and burdens others.

How do we support PEAR?

Submitted by ricardo on

The Office of Equity provides consultative services to state agencies that is rooted in the Washington State Pro-Equity Anti-Racism (PEAR) Ecosystem Plan & Playbook and the PEAR framework it outlines. We provide consultation through thought leadership, thought partnership, recommendations, advisement, and technical assistance on Office of Equity tools/resources including the PEAR framework and the development of statewide tools and resources that Washington state agencies will use to create a PEAR ecosystem.

Why are we doing PEAR?

Some Washingtonians question the legitimacy of state government because decisions are consistently made without them, some question state government’s effectiveness because it is not delivering services that meet their needs, and some do not trust state government because of its history of oppression and marginalization.
