Hey friends! My name is Sabrina Njoroge (JOE-ROW-GEH), pronouns are she/her/hers. I hail from Hailing from the picturesque state of Washington and carries a deep commitment to creating positive change in my community. Beyond my advocacy work, I embrace the role of a single mom, nurturing her energetic 3-year-old while inspiring them with a dedication to making the world a better place. My love for connecting with people is evident in my warm interactions, where I find joy in building bridges and fostering meaningful relationships. When I am not busy advocating or parenting, you can find me immersed in the world of music, enjoying soulful tunes, and even sharing her own melodious voice through singing.
I believe that achieving racial justice is a critical step towards belonging and I am committed to working tirelessly to make it happen. I am passionate about empowering communities and individuals to take action towards a more just and equitable future. I am also committed to make a lasting, sustainable impact in the word. As a Black mother to a young child, I understand the importance of advancing racial equity in the world to create a better environment for future generations to come. For me, this work is not a job, it is my life.
I am a Shared Power Consultant at the Office of Equity. My role is to guide, promote, support and create.
- I will help to guide agencies to prioritizing equity in all decisions.
- I will help promote accountability and transparency.
- I will help support community voice and engagement. I will also be working with leadership to elevate employee voices and broaden opportunity and knowledge gaps.
- I will create safe spaces for growth, sharing resources, and most importantly, belonging.
Our goal is to get folks talking to one another - within agencies and between agencies, let alone with community. Our government currently lacks a human centered approach. We are all so focused on titles and jobs and forget that there are human beings behind each one of those roles. We need to start talking to one another and building genuine, authentic relationships. We are stronger when we work together.
One of my superpowers is facilitating challenging and difficult conversations as well as create a...
If the Shared Power team is successful in its efforts (let alone the entire Office of Equity), I hope to see community involved in every government decision. I hope to see more leaders that look like me or that come from marginalized backgrounds. I envision a workplace where we can all show up and be our authentic selves, unapologetically, without fear of retaliation. Most importantly, I hope to see a government with a human-centered approach (as opposed to transactional). I plan to hold myself accountable by being transparent every step of the way and going into conversations with the mentality that I don't know everything, but I am willing to learn.
