Aylis J Lind
Statewide Equity Accountability Analyst
Greetings, fellow human! This is a growing planet and I am happy to make the acquaintance of as many journeyers as possible. I love community, board games, writing, and a mischief of rats.
"Peter Drucker once famously said, "You can't manage what you can't measure". I couldn't agree more, whether it's building a house or creating an anti-racist and a true justice future in Washington State. As a Statewide Accountability Analyst for the Office of Equity, I believe that my superpower is the ability to say "Yes, and." We need to work together to bring the right people to the table, amplify their voices, and guide services for every community to be more inclusive.
I have spent a lot of time in DSHS meetings, trying to figure out "HOW" to create a framework that brings people together and allows us to celebrate the ways we have transformed systems and lives for all people. I have observed that there is a need for evidence-based decision-making that can have a positive impact on our communities. I am passionate about finding, validating, and providing insights to the agencies that are the best at what they do, so that we can together thrive."
I grew up in poverty and homelessness. If it weren't for the privilege and luck that I had, I would have never been able to escape it. I strongly believe that a community can save lives. However, we cannot ignore the fact that so many individuals are being left out and left behind. I was fortunate enough to benefit from our systems because of a quirk of my birth, but we cannot claim that justice exists until it is readily available for everyone. American freedom and opportunity must be accessible for every single American. I have been working at the Department of Social and Health Services for the past 15 years. When I was feeling helpless, I was given hope, and now I am in a position where I can help others. I have been lucky enough to make it to where I am today, and I am committed to sharing my knowledge and experience with others.
