She/Her, Ella

Hola! My name is Amber Ortiz-Diaz, my pronouns are She/Her, Ella. I am a proud daughter of Mexican immigrants who have their unique story for their American dream. I am a proud sister, aunt, wife, and mother. I love spending my time with my family, supporting small businesses, and traveling to different countries.

I believe that relational partnership is the first step to achieving a more equitable Washington. I envision a Washington where we all show up authentically and unapologetically.

I am here because of my parents' American Dream; their sacrifices and their strength so I could be in a place of privilege and support those that come after me. I genuinely believe in equity and justice for all. I believe that voices from rural Washington and of Hispanic/Latin descent often get missed and need to be uplifted, appreciated, and valued in community and in systems change work. I have roots in the community through previous and current roles as a volunteer board member, experience in philanthropy, and higher education/college access. With each role, I am committed to eliminating barriers, connecting and convening with people, and bringing my lived experiences to create a more equitable Washington.

I earned my Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences degree from Heritage University located in Toppenish, Washington which resides on the lands of the Yakama Nation. I earned my Masters in Educational Leadership from Concordia University located in Portland, Oregon.
