2023 We the People Convening: ReEntry 2030

On October 24th, Cheryl Strange & Danielle Armbruster from the Dept. of Corrections, Ted Kelleher from the Dept. of Commerce, Louis McDermott from Healthcare Authority, Jilma Meneses from Dept. of Social & Health Services, and Alberto Isiordia from the Employment Security Department put on a workshop for attendees of the event, which included community members and state agency employees. 

Reentry 2030 is a national initiative that aims to dramatically increase successful reentry into the community for people exiting prison and those under supervision. The initiative is uniting state and local leaders across the country in justice, workforce, health, and housing sectors – around a bold goal: Successful reintegration for every person with a criminal record. Reentry 2030 is committed to a future of reentry that is human centered, coordinated, transparent, and equitable. Here in Washington State, your Department of Corrections has long been working towards these same successful reentry goals in alignment with Governor Inslee’s Executive Order 16-05, Building Safe and Strong Communities Through Successful Reentry. Through a collaborative, multi-agency effort, Washington has worked hard to ensure justice-involved people have access to quality healthcare, a living wage, and access to opportunities in their communities upon reentry. Join this session to get a look inside Washington State’s Reentry 2030 efforts and hear from agency leaders at the Department of Commerce, Department of Corrections, Department of Social and Health Services, the Employment Security Department, Healthcare Authority, and the Reentry Council.
